Colvin,opened an Arts and Crafts School with a difference. The
Academy of Artisans employs a range of working artists in six fully
equipped studios at 490 Eglinton Avenue West (second floor). All studios
have full spectrum florescent lighting for true colour.
Open
seven days a week, the Academy is geared to offer opportunities
to individuals of all ages and abilities. All classes and workshops
are taught by highly regarded professionals.
Courses
are taught in the following areas: art history, baking, basketry,
cooking, crochet, drawing, flower arranging, photography, glazing,
painting, home decorating and improvement, jewelry, knitting, leather,
patterning-design, pottery handbuilding, pottery throwing, glass
painting, sculpture in various media including clay, papier mache,
found objects and iron work, sewing and stained glass. All classes
are hands-on. Instruction is supplemented with slide presentations,
discussion, critique of work and personal attention.
Visitors
to the school will find students enjoying a variety of classes in
a friendly, convivial atmosphere, a mini gallery exhibiting work
of the artists who instruct at the school, as well as a small art
supply store.
